WAVERLEY LAKE

Public BBQ

This small lake in Waverley sits alongside a football oval that doubles as a fenced dog park. A level walking track circles the water, passing through spots with good autumn colour and offering bench seating for rest stops. The park has electric BBQs and toilets, plus a basketball area nearby. A creek runs behind the lake, and the whole setup works well for short walks with dogs or families. The BBQ area lacks bench space for prep work and has no water tap nearby, which makes cooking awkward. The lake is now posted with no swimming or fishing signs, so the water is just for looking at. Ducks congregate around the picnic areas and can be aggressive, particularly around food. Plovers nest in the area during breeding season and will swoop walkers on the track. The atmosphere stays quiet and peaceful most times. The track is flat and easy, suitable for all ages.
